My Sawyer Filter Kit…

I’m always looking for better ways to carry my gear when I go backpacking so I get on the internet and start digging and exploring.   I thought I’d share my current Sawyer filter kit to give anyone else a better way to carry theirs.  Basically, anyone who has ever filled a Sawyer squeeze pouch knows that unless you have a pretty good flow of water you struggle to get the pouch full because the mouth on it is just too small.  This is especially true if you’re filling from a lake or slow moving stream.  Well I got tired of fiddling with it so I cut down a 20 ounce Gatorade or Sobe bottle into a cup and attached some paracord or Nite Ize reflective cord to the cup to help carry it.  It allows you to roll up the Sawyer Mini inside the squeeze pouch and tuck it perfectly inside the cup.  I usually attach a lanyard of reflective Paracord or Nite Ize cord to the pouch, filter and cup so I can clip them all together with a Nite Ize S-Biner.  Then I stuff it in a mesh bag and I’m good to go!

I guess I like organization and hate losing things so this really keeps things in line for me.
