Okay so I’m just putting up a few pics from my latest hike up to Mt. Leconte lodge. We had incredible weather and the hike was outstanding. We were not socked in at all with excellent visibility of Gatlinburg although I failed to take any night pictures.
We took a slightly different trail this time just to mix things up a bit. We took the Brushy Mountain Trail to the Trillium Gap Trail. This is about a 9.1 mile hike to the top with about 4,680 feet of elevation gain so it’s not for beginners.
My overall thoughts are that it was a good hike to do once but I probably won’t do the hike again. In my opinion the Trillium Gap trail is not one of the most exciting trails so it’s not one of my favorites. I wouldn’t intentionally hike the Trillium Gap trail but the challenge of the Brushy Mountain trail made for a decent hike. Now, the Brushy Mountain trail is pretty nice and has some interesting sections but it is pack grade and parts of it are similar to the Trillium Gap trail.
Some interesting points regarding this hike are the homesteads at the base of Brushy Mountain trail as well as Porter creek which looks like it might hold some Brook Trout. I will be going back to do some fishing in the creek later in the year.
