I had been eyeballing the Therm-a-Rest NeoAir XLite Sleeping Pad for awhile now but couldn’t justify it until I got my REI dividend and combined with the 20% off coupon(to help spend your dividend no doubt) I was lured to make the purchase.

My current sleeping pads are all long and wide pads which are great for me because I’m fairly large so I’ve opted for large sleeping pads but after doing the Wonderland Trail last year I knew I could get away with a lighter and smaller sleeping pad for longer hikes. I currently own a Big Agnes Insulated Air Core, Therm-a-Rest Trekker and Exped Synmat UL 9 but they are all the long and wide sizes and nowhere near light. I decided that the next pad I purchase would be very light and in the regular size. I figured this one would be perfect for longer hikes because it only weighs 12 ounces which is crazy light compared to the rest of my sleeping pad arsenal. That makes it a half pound lighter than any of my other sleeping pads and much more compact.
Some friends who I currently hike with have owned this same sleeping pad for a long time and I know they’re quite happy with it. I’ve actually touched the surface of the pad and it’s quite soft so that’s a plus. Not to mention how light it is and it’s very durable.
This is the perfect time to get this sleeping pad with the spring time bringing in the warm weather and some nice hikes lined up in my near future.
9/18 FIRST USE – I had a chance to put this pad through the ringer on a 10 day 95 mile hike through the Sierra Nevada’s on the John Muir Trail. I was so impressed with how light and compact it is and how little room it takes up in my pack. It kept me comfortable for the entire trip and after I finished blowing it up I didn’t feel like I needed oxygen to rejuvenate. It shows no significant wear after that trip and worked out so well I may decide to use it on shorter trips instead of delegating it for long trips only.
