I’ve had my pair of Vivobarefoot Mens Ultra Trail Running Shoes lashed to my backpack for the last ten trips and I barely notice them! They are about as light as you can get without taking off your shoes and they easily offer enough support and comfort as camp shoes. They can even be used for creek crossings but keep in mind they sole is flexible and you will feel the sharp rocks. And there is virtually zero drying time because if you remove the sock liner there is nothing to soak up any water. I’ve used them for a paddling shoe as well.
Before I bought these shoes I couldn’t justify the additional weight for carrying such a luxury item and I’m far from being an ultra-light backpacker! But alas, these are the answer at a whopping 7 or 8 ounces(without the sock liner), and fairly low profile. It will be hard to find something comparable.
They come in several colors and can be purchased with or without a removable sock liner that offers better cushion and support. And the tongue is removable on both models.
Try them and I bet you will like them.
