I’ve had my Sea to Summit ultra-sil compression dry sack for going on two plus years now and I love it. I take this thing on every trip no questions asked because it’s a great piece of gear to have with me at all times. It’s waterproof, tough, lightweight and versatile!

My primary use for it is to carry my sleeping bag. It’s a compression sack so it will compress the bag really small if you want to carry it in your pack. But, it’s also waterproof so I can lash it to the outside of my pack if I want and I won’t worry about it getting soaked. And for as light as it is, it’s very tough material so I don’t have to worry about it tearing if I lash it to the outside of my pack. Never store your sleeping bag in a compression sack! A really cool thing about these sacks is the fact that they are made partially of waterproof breathable material so it’s easier to evacuate the air. This makes compressing them to a small size much easier.
They sell these at just about any good outdoor retailer, as well as Amazon and some other places and they generally run between $25-$50. It’s a staple in my pack at this point and I wouldn’t consider leaving home without it. They sell a few different versions of it but I have only used the Ultra-Sil Event sack.
